CUTTING-EDGE CONTEMPORARY ART

With iconic Masters such as Jan van Eyck, Breughel, Rubens, Rembrandt, and Magritte – just to name a few - it is no surprise that the Benelux has some of the finest museums and art galleries. In Amsterdam, the Modern Contemporary Museum (MOCO) opened its doors last year and Belgium is also punching above its weight in contemporary art. More established Belgian artists such as Jan Fabre, Berlinde De Bruyckere and Panamarenko have been coloring the art landscape for a while and are now followed by a generation of artists like Rinus Van de Velde to share the spotlights with. Brilliant Belgium does not limit itself to the bigger museums such as SMAK (Ghent) or MUHKA (Antwerp) but gladly spreads the word about smaller one’s such as Deweer Gallery in the remote village of Otegem too.
